Hansen Lin was born and raised in China and now works between the United States and Asia as an independent producer and director. His work explores creative cinematic language across diverse genres, often centering on stories of coming of age, migration, family, and romance.
He has produced films that have premiered at top-tier international festivals including Sundance, the BFI London Film Festival, and the Sydney Film Festival, with releases on platforms such as HBO and Tencent News. His recent producing work, Always(2025), received the top prize Dox:Award at CPH:DOX, Best Picture at the Jeonju International Film Festival, Best Editing at DocsBarcelona, and Best Documentary at the El Gouna Film Festival, along with special honors from NETPAC and FIPRESCI.
Hansen’s producing experience spans Europe, the Americas, and Asia. He is an alumnus of EURODOC and Film Independent’s Producing Lab and Fellowship, as well as international workshops such as DOK.Incubator and Doc By The Sea. His producing projects and directorial debut have been selected for major pitching forums including IDFA Forum and Cannes Docs, earning recognition and support from organizations such as IDA, CNC, Firelight Media, ITVS, Berlinale Talents, and the InMaat Foundation.
